The Writer's Solitary Path: Anchored In Yesterday, For Choice For Tomorrow

An Artist's Commentary & Companion Guide

Before crossing the threshold into this second work, let us remember the road that brought us here. In Volume 1, Exploring the Architecture of a Hidden Wound, we examined the interior life, how the soul endures rupture, navigates delay, and discovers that healing is an intentional architecture.

Where the first volume asked how we survive what wounded us, this second volume asks: Now that we have endured, what are we being prepared to build? The Writer’s Solitary Path: Anchored in Yesterday, For Choice For Tomorrow moves the journey from inward restoration outward into purposeful legacy, exploring the vital balance between ancient foundations and modern advancement.

The Writer's Solitary Path: Anchored In Yesterday, For Choice For Tomorrow

An Artist's Commentary & Companion Guide

How do we move forward with purpose while remaining anchored to the sacred roots that formed us?

In The Writer’s Solitary Path: Anchored in Yesterday, Choosing for Tomorrow, I invite you into the second volume of The Ekphrasis Collection, a contemplative fine art companion guide centered on one of my symbolic oil paintings set within the peaceful landscape of Elm Park.

At the heart of the canvas, a solitary writer sits beside still waters, clothed in the discipline of yesterday while holding the tools of tomorrow. Around him, every detail carries meaning: the red bridge of sacrifice, the clock fixed at seven, the reflective pond, the distant steeple, the paired doves, the waiting vessel, the blooming white roses, the holy shoreline, the modern skyline, and the silver train curving back toward peace.

Through Scripture, symbolism, historical reflection, and close visual exposition, we will explore the tension between ancient wisdom and modern acceleration. In a world that often confuses speed with progress and noise with purpose, this book offers a quiet invitation to slow down, look deeply, and consider what the soul may be preparing to build.

As you move through the book, you will be invited to pause over five unfolding movements within the painting:

  • A solitary mindset that distinguishes sacred preparation from mere isolation.

  • A bridge of transition where sacrifice, time, and spiritual direction shape the crossing.

  • The quiet dualities of belonging, where the individual and the greater whole begin to speak to one another.

  • The human shoreline, where seasons of life, holy ground, beauty, covenant, and readiness gather in symbolic form.

  • A returning path of progress, where modern ambition curves back toward rooted peace.

This volume also stands in conversation with Exploring the Architecture of a Hidden Wound. Where the first book moved through rupture, endurance, and restoration, this second work turns toward purpose: once the soul has endured, what is it being prepared to build?

For readers, collectors, artists, and seekers standing between memory and vision, solitude and service, waiting and movement, I hope this book becomes both a visual journey and a reflective sanctuary. My desire is that it reminds you true advancement does not discard yesterday; it carries its wisdom forward, shaping tomorrow with discipline, faith, and purpose.
Endure the season of preparation. Honor the roots beneath your feet. Build with purpose when the appointed time arrives.
