A Walking New Man

 A Narrative Poetry

In the mosaic of her scars, the broken woman discovers an unbreakable strength. The strength of a woman who has been shattered lies in the unity with which she has gathered her thousand pieces. From her state of disarray, she has assembled her fragments and forged a newfound strength. That which was dashed and scattered has now been reformed.

​

Like a puzzle of a mystery, piece by piece, the fragments of her past form a mosaic picture. Like a vase on a shelf, she quietly remains in the shadow of its confines. Though her beauty is seen, but her fragility remains. From a distance she attracts all who see. But to those who see and proceed, their touch of admiration of her becomes a reminder to her of the many shattered lines in her vase.

She pushes them away, fearing they will break her again, or worse, abandon her in pain. She longs for attention, but rejects affection, trapped in a cycle of reflections. But one day, a gentle hand reaches out to her, not to touch, but to hold. A kind voice speaks to her, not to praise, but to understand. A warm heart beats for her, not to want, but to love. She senses a spark of hope, that maybe she can heal, that maybe she can trust, that maybe she can feel again. 

She lets him in, slowly and cautiously, opening her fractures and scars.

He fills them with compassion and patience, mending her with care and grace. Though she is difficult to understand.

​

He shows her that she is not broken, but whole and beautiful in every way. He helps her see that she is not alone, but loved and cherished every day. Through time, with kindness and understanding, he fills her heart. With patience and compassion, he plays his part.

Though she may seem like a puzzle, hard to comprehend. He assures her she’s not broken, but a gem to tend. From the thorns that once were, through the process of time, soft petals remain. Its aromatic and softness, like an adhesive and a soothing balm of roses petals woven into the fabric of her being. In every way, she’s beautiful, complete, and whole. A masterpiece of nature, a radiant soul. He helps her realize she’s never on her own. Loved and cherished daily, like a queen on her throne.
