The Proclamation of Cyrus
Lead me Lord, I will follow

Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of the LORD by the mouth of Jeremiah might be fulfilled, the LORD stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom, and put it also in writing, saying, Thus saith Cyrus king of Persia, The LORD God of heaven hath given me all the kingdoms of the earth; and he hath charged me to build him a house at Jerusalem, which is in Judah.

Who is there among you of all his people? his God be with him, and let him go up to Jerusalem, which is in Judah, and build the house of the LORD God of Israel, (he is the God,) which is in Jerusalem.

Ezra 1:1-3

Here we have a non-Jew, Cyrus, a king of a heathen nation, nevertheless, for the influence of a Godly mother, Esther, the impact to her son as a child, continue into his adulthood, even as a king. The Word of God endures forever, therein, the best gift given is the impartation of the Word to those we love.

The Lord chooses to use whom He pleases, let us then who are called by His name be ready for the doing of His will. Like in the proclamation of Cyrus king of Persia:

Who is there among you of all his people? his God be with him, and let him go up to Jerusalem, which is in Judah, and build the house of the LORD God of Israel, (He is the God,) which is in Jerusalem.

The proclamation of Cyrus, was for all of God’s people. The return to Jerusalem is a type of a revival, which is the return, or a recovery from a state of neglect. Have we neglected who we are through our shortcomings, for the doing of that which is wrong? Therein, may we rebuild the temple, a physical temple to the believer of old, but symbolic to us today, the rebuilding of the temple of God, represents the restoration of our lost liberty in Christ Jesus, so that the gospel is preached for the deliverance of the captive soul, to set men free.

Therein, the rebuilding of the temple of men soul which has fallen into ruins by reason of sin, may be restored.

It’s hard to take the first step
when I don’t know the way
Each turn is so uncertain
I’ve learned to walk by faith
But you give me a promise
That you will never leave
You will lead and guide me
Lord, I do believe

Lead me Lord I will follow
Lead be Lord I will go
You have called me
I will answer
Lead me Lord, I will go.

The best gift given is the Word of God, and the prayer of a Godly mother endures forever in God's presence.
