- It seems we are our biggest hinderance as ChristiansIn General discussionsJune 16, 2018If a child comes up to its mother, on a hot summer day with two popsicle sticks in both hands, and one in her mouth; she is however looking up to her mom wanting an ice-cream with a cone. The mother is looking at her daughter. She cannot give her what she wants until she put down those things that are in her hands. Usually, the child won’t think about the need to let go first, in order to receive, all they care about is getting a new ice-cream with a cone. This is the condition with most Christians. They are asking God for something while still holding on to other things. One might say, well … the things, or thing that I am holding on to isn’t a physical thing in my hands. True, it might be a failed dream, or a relationship. Although those things are not held on to physically, but the idea is the same, and the approach must be the same. We let go of whatever it is by stop making it the focus of our lives. To let go of something, doesn’t mean hating that thing. (unless it is immoral) Instead, we make God our focus than allowing whatever the thing is, as the focus of our lives. Personally, for me, being an inventor and earning my first U.S. patent while still in high school was one of my focuses. A dream to earn wealth through my inventions. This in itself, isn’t wrong, but are we ready for that which we desire? A parent will not entrust an automobile in the hands of a 10-year-old simply because the child asked for it. Though the parent loves that child, but the parent knows better, and when the time is right they shall receive. Likewise, God our heavenly Father knows best, and what is right. Though we do not understand it all, may we learn to trust. Even if we do not understand, let us say, Lord, teach me to trust you. >Prayer to trust in the Lord< >song30

- CALLED TO HOLINESS, OBEDIENCE AND SERVICE TO ALMIGHTY GODIn General discussions ·December 8, 2018🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙌🙌🙌 In 1st Samuel 13: the Bible tells us a sad story of a character who was called for Service and Honor God at the time .. SAUL .. God makes a promise in 1 Samuel 10: 6 (God makes a special promise) only to men that God wishes to change and transform into another man, to change his state, his life, his misfortunes, his mistakes and to give a new trajectory and an end to an empty, purposeless life. Glory to God. Saul had the opportunity to be God's instrument to change first his life and the people of Israel as a leader placed by God. 1 Samuel 10: 7 God assures you that he would be with him, but he trusted the word, the promise given, how can we see this? , we see it in 1 Samuel 13 in the war against the Philistines, God had given him the word of what to do and how to do it, he should wait for the prophet Samuel male (Jehovah's priest) who was more than proven that God was in the mouth of Samuel, God had chosen to deliver the victory and as God's representative on earth. Saul called and chosen by God but what he did was not to obey God as his guide, his support, his salvation in the midst of war, we see in 1 Samuel 13: 8-10 he preferred to let himself be guided and influenced to commit sin against God , for a people whose trust was not in almighty God, and let themselves be guided by their own thoughts, their desire to solve everything by their means to the point of passing over the prophet of God and the commandments of God .. IN THIS TIME WHAT WE DO WITH THE CALL OF GOD? WITH THE CALL TO HOLINESS? TO OBEY YOUR WORD (BIBLE)? TO OBEY THE VOICE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT? It is time to reflect on what we do with what he gives us, and wait for us ... we will let the influence of this world take us away from the call? 2 Thessalonians 2:13 but we must always give thanks to God for you, brothers loved by the Lord, that God chose you from the beginning for salvation, through sanctification through the spirit and faith in the truth. God bless you abundantly 🙏 🙏 🙏 🙏 🙌 🙌 🙌 🙌 Glory to God..3059

- Does Ephesians 5:18 support moderate drinking? be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit. In Posting questionsFebruary 27, 2020Ephesians 5:18 does not condone moderate drinking, the idea here, was a warning against the drunken culture of that day, which is similar to now. The warning is simple, don’t be intoxicated like the drunk. For Christians who read this as an approval to get intoxicated, it is their attempt to cover the guilt of drunkenness by justifying their drinking habit. Furthermore, the word “excess” used in the verse is from the Greek word asōtia, which means, riot. Now, with that in mind, this is how it should be read. Be not drunk with wine, IN RIOTS; but be filled with the Spirit. There are two things happening in the verse: 1 – The diagnosis of the problem When the soul of mankind is empty, he seeks means to fill it up, by blocking the reality of the discomfort, and alcohol through intoxication is one of the presumptions for a relief. 2 – The cure to the problem is to be filled with the Spirit. Therein, the believer learns to depend on God, even in discomfort. He or she is not quick to act, but to trust that God can, and will make a way, even if it seems like there is no way. Concerning this, MacLaren said, to be filled with the Spirit is the way to possess all the highest forms of the good which men are tempted to intoxication to secure, and which in it they find only for a moment, and which is coarse and unreal. Now, viewing this from today’s terminology, imagine an adult and an adolescent. Let the reader put themselves in the position of the adolescent, or in the position of the adult. The adult said to the adolescent, do not steal like the criminals who are incarcerated, but follow the right influence. Is the adult condoning a lesser form of robbery? No, likewise, when the Apostle Paul wrote Ephesians 5:18 by saying; be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit, herein, he is not condoning moderate drinking. The focus shouldn’t be how much alcohol not to drink. Rather, how can I live a life wherein, I am not depending on alcohol for a temporal relief, or the longing of pleasure which will lead to a gap in the soul and an emptiness from within. Notice, the preceding verse before verse 18, expressing its meaning in today's terminology, we are told; be careful how you live. Don't live like ignorant people, but likewise people. Make good use of every opportunity you have because these are evil days. Don't be fools, but try to find out what the Lord wants you to do.144
