- Webster, NoahIn General discussionsMay 13, 2018I am one of those people who actually read dictionaries. Weird to some, but enlightening for me. Yes, I have read after Noah Webster, a brilliant mind. He changed the American school system, as well as the entire world. Before he did, a school house had kids and children of ages from 9-16 or older, all in the same classroom. Through Webster, today we have the level of classes based on ages. He wrote more than a dictionary. As you mentioned, a Bible translation as well. However, the Noah Webster Bible is the same KJV - King James Version of the Bible (my preferable choice) The difference between the Noah Webster Bible and the KJV is straightly from a linguist's standpoint. Webster being a linguist and Godly man, moved to set up a translation of the KJV by only changing some adverbs or verbs where see fit. Below are some examples. It does not change or twist the meaning of the KJV text in any way or form. Comparison KJV - Bible Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. Noah Webster - Bible Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all thy heart; and lean not to thy own understanding. If you look at the two translations above, you cannot easily see the difference, unless you look closely. The KJV used "unto thine" while Webster used "to thy" Another example would be: Philippians 4:13 KJV I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. Noah Webster I can do all things through Christ who strengtheneth me. Other places, the only changes present is the use of punctuation marks. KJV Romans 8:2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. Noah Webster Romans 8:2 For the law of the Spirit of life, in Christ Jesus, hath made me free from the law of sin and death. It is almost impossible to spot the difference in the passage from Romans 8:2. If you look closely, Webster added a comma after "Spirit of life" and another comma after Jesus. Many times, there won't be any difference between a KJV Bible and a Noah Webster Bible. KJV - Bible John 11:35 Jesus wept. Noah Webster - Bible John 11:35 Jesus wept. The only major difference between a KJV Bible and a Noah Webster Bible is the price. The Webster Bible is out of print, so the price is usually high.60
- Time travelIn General discussionsJanuary 12, 2019@eric8m70364450 There could be a couple of reasons you don’t hear about it. The account of Philip and the Ethiopian, after he was "translated" or transported to Azotus. Some preachers think it is irrelevant. So, they don't mention it. Secondly, many preachers do not trust their congregation discernment, in knowing heresy from the truth. The reason for saying this is, in the past years, the occult has claim to bodily travel different locations. So, preachers refrain from teaching about the account of Philip being translated, fearing that their congregation will confuse the teaching of the occult with the teaching of the Bible. Of course, such notion is preposterous. Such thinking is like a parent refraining to give gifts to a child because he or she discovered criminals do give gifts to their children too. If the word of God is preached, without being water downed, men will know the truth.6
- Ecclesiastes 1:18In Posting questionsNovember 18, 2018Amen, "It was through love we were saved. For those who wander and backslide, through love they shall be restored. Like Solomon, in his last words he concluded by saying; let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole of man. That is to say, if a man keeps the commandments of God, or abide in the directive path of the Lord, he is a whole man, without which, he or she is incomplete, with a void of sorrows and griefs." And sadly this happens, i hope i recognize when i do, those words are deep. "He turned to the world for understanding, despite being wiser than the world."6

- Difference between a tithe and an offeringIn Posting questionsAugust 13, 2018The word tithe has its roots meaning in the word ten, this means, we give one tenth of what we have, or earned. Tithing in its originality was far more than giving a 10 percent of a paycheck. Virtually everything in one’s life, in turns of ownership, and work related, the 10th was to be given to the Lord. Giving to the Lord How do we give to the Lord considering He is in heaven and we are on Earth? We give by supporting His will on Earth, by supporting the cause of His will. Like in Old Testament times, the Temple was the center of the nation. Their social and economics were built around the Temple, by paying tithes to God’s temple, unto the high priests, this ensures the fluidity of the social dealings between the people. Tithing also leads to other greater opportunities of which the one that is tithing did not foresee until it was made manifest. (Of which we will address later) Tithes are not to be viewed as a burden. Rather, it expressed the believer love of God’s divine order, of which we do not yet understand in its fullness, but we trust in God. Everyone has something to give, but it is up to the individual to search within themselves with a desire and a willing heart. Offering Voluntary contribution, also known as offering. This is without the sense of duty, in acknowledging God’s divine order of things through tithing. The emphasis concerning an offering is to give spontaneously, expressing devotion to the Lord, it is not a gift given out of a sense of duty, neither it is given to win promised blessings. A prayer is also an offering or voluntary contribution. (Psalms 119:108) Accept, I beseech thee, the freewill offerings of my mouth, O LORD, and teach me thy judgments. Tithing is a duty to give, while offering is the act of spontaneous giving. Although, one might argue that tithing was under the Law of the Old Testament, so, we are not to tithe today. However, are we not to receive blessings today? With tithing comes blessing. Secondly, as long there is a need for the will of God on Earth, we ought to support that cause through tithing or free will offering. When we give, it is not because God needs what we have. Rather, it is a divine order that will return as a blessing to the giver. The benefit of tithing This is expressed through an illustration based in a third world country that is on a path to an industrialized nation. A certain man, with his wife and their sons, though they lived in poverty, there were those who lived in abject poverty. Regardless of their lack of many things, yet, an assembly of people always gathers together at the shack of this certain man. There they studied the Bible, prayed, worship and sing praises to the Lord. The certain man taught the people the importance of tithing. Though they had almost nothing to give, yet, every once in a while, someone would give the equivalence of one United States penny. They worked in the fields, they worked in homes and off the streets, but for their abject poverty, they were compensated in the wages of food, instead of money. At the end of every Church service, when a penny was received, he would walk 3.4 hours to the nearest shopping center. There he will meet with the store clerk and give him the penny or few pennies and ask him to keep it for him. The clerk didn’t understand why, but he felt there was something different about this man, something positive of which he could not explain. He accepted his request that this went on for about a year. It was now late December, with snow on the horizon. The certain man woke up earlier than usual before the Church service that morning and walked many hours to the shopping center. There he met with the store clerk, and he inquired of the deposit funds. The clerk reaches down and brought up a small box filled with cash, shaking it in his hands, he emptied the small amount on his desk and counted it. Looking at the certain man, he announced the amount of money therein, the equivalence of $10. With a smile on his face and a bounce in his steps, he signaled to the clerk that he will be back later. That morning he preached from Galatians 6:9 to his Congregation. At the end of the service, he greeted them like always, but with a surprise news, of taking them on a journey. The younger children with their parents, along with the teens and their parents, with the wife of the certain man and their two sons embark on the journey toward the shopping center. There they waited in line with the rest of the shoppers. When it was his turn to face the clerk. He smiled, and said, you are back! He nodded with a grin, pointing at his church members; with my family, he said. The clerk added, quite a large family, he replied, yes, my family in the faith. The clerk asked him, what can I do for you today, more deposit? With a big smile he answered, withdraw. The clerk thought within himself, $10 is he serious? He once again brought up the little box of cash, with others still in line waiting their turn. The certain man explained briefly the origin of the cash from the people, through tithes, a penny at a time and the time frame of its accumulation. He then handed it back to the clerk, asking him to offer them a hot beverage. We do not have much, but we will share what the money has to offer. However, at least we can have something pleasant for a few hours before the Christmas. The cups (Styrofoam mugs) and straws will be given to the younger ones among us as a present to play with for the Christmas. This is how poor they were, but the smiles on their faces were radiant. However, virtually everyone else in the line, eyes were filled with tears. Many of those in line instantly offered them dinner at their homes, but for the number of their size it was almost impossible. The store clerk suggested, they could bring the meal later in his store when he closes. There they all can have dinner together. Though they return with meals, and other presents, but they could not stay due to the accumulation of the snow. The duty of a good Christian is not only in giving a penny or more, but doing that which is right. This was seen among the certain man and his people. As they waited outside the store for the meals, they went on helping the shoppers with the groceries and carts. Many of whom in return give them a portion of the contents of their shopping carts with cash. They had so much, the only problem was how to take all back with them to their respective homes. As the evening approaches, the store clerk stood outside with them. He could not take them in his car due to the weather condition, so he offered them to keep their gifts in his store, to pick it up the following day. While they talked, in the distance was a car, out came a big man in appearance. Without speaking, he hurriedly got what he wanted from the store, while returning to his car. His rush came to a halt. The sound of his acceleration grew louder, but his car stood still in the snow. Two of the people of the certain man, went out to give the big man helping hands. Slowly the tires of his car rolled out, and he drove away. In the distance, he stopped and returned to the two who just helped him. As he later recorded, he reached out his hand as a sign of a thank you gesture, but to his surprise, the hands of his helper were rather small. Looking closer, he realized these were women who have just helped him pushed his car through the snow. They did not wear clothes to show their beauty, for they couldn’t afford the cost, they dressed to keep warm through the weather. He did not know what to think, according to him, he drove home with this thought of their hospitality on his mind. Upon arriving home, he handed over the ham to his wife and told her he was switching cars to use his truck with a plow to plow the roads, and he will be back. Back at the store, the certain man along with his people. Took very few things from their many gifts and were ready to trek home in the falling snow, when in the distance was a bright light coming toward the shopping center. It was the biggest car they have ever seen, out came a man, a big man. He walked toward them, revealing his face, he was the man they helped minutes ago. Where are you going he asked? Home, they replied. In this snow he added? Yes, we are, together, we will make it home. Then tomorrow we will return with others to pick up our gifts from the good store clerk, they answered. Looking over at the store clerk, he asked, you give them gifts? The clerk answered, not really, they’ve earned it themselves. Their discussion came down to the big man agreeing to take them home with all their gifts at once. For the first time, the next day, on Christmas morning they had more than they could ever imagine. They obeyed the word of God by giving their tithes, though it was little, but God remembers them in their giving. Little is much, when God is the focus . . . Try Me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it. (Malachi 3:10)60

- HagarIn Posting questionsOctober 26, 2018Hagar and Ishmael her son, represent the law and our flesh, the old nature. Whereas, Isaac being a type of Christ, he represents grace, which is not earned by what we do, but that which we receive freely. Grace ushers in our new nature which is the born-again experience, walking after the Spirit and not walking after the flesh. In other words, depending on God and not our willpower. Wherewith, the flesh must go, our old nature cannot live in harmony with our new nature. The scripture reference to this Incident is found in Genesis 21:10, which reads; Wherefore she (Sarah) said unto Abraham, cast out this bondwoman and her son: for the son of this bondwoman shall not be heir with my son, even with Isaac. The bondwoman and her son refer to Hagar and her son Ishmael. Before this occurrence, to Abraham and Sarah his wife, God did promise, the couple will bring forth a son in their old age, against all odds. However, the urgency of men needs isn’t driven by God’s timing. So it was with Abraham and Sarah, as years progress without seeing the promise of a son being born unto them. Like all believers, though we believe God’s promise to us, however, with a delay to the fulfillment of the promise, the mind is impatient and our ego and our will-power are made alive, wherewith we act without God, in hope to bring forth His promise in our life. If we act, without waiting on God’s timing, and an error is the result of our actions, who is to be blame? This was the case with Abraham and Sarah, their urgency to bring about God’s promise, was seen through Abraham’s union with Hagar, the maid of Sarah, his wife. Hagar serves as the equivalence of today’s surrogate mother. The result of this was a son, Ishmael, but not the promised son. Nevertheless, Abraham was satisfied with Ishmael, for Ishmael was the embodiment or the expression of Abraham’s willpower. We as human are proud of our willpower, knowing we brought about a change based on our own power and ideas. There came a time when the true promised son was born, Isaac was the son. Within this is a lesson, we were all born with our human nature which is not after the will of God, this is the representation of Ishmael, but as believers there came a time we accept the will of God in our lives, which brought forth a new and a younger nature, the representation of Isaac. Now, though we love our past, or the works of our hands, the representation of Ishmael, but we cannot live with our old nature. As believers, we must now choose the new nature, which is Isaac. If not, whatever we once were, that nature will take over our new nature and override whatsoever that is godly in us for the lust of the flesh. Observe, both Ishmael and Isaac had the same father. Our old nature is who we are, but our new nature is who we ought to be, but the struggle is letting go of the things of old and the works of our hands. For many of us, it is impossible, therefore, we conclude within our understanding that we can live with both natures. Such is the modern Church, they glory in the day of worship, but comes the next day, they are drawn in the pleasure of the world and the drunkenness of their fleshly desire. If this continues, the old nature will destroy the younger nature, and ultimately the demise of the individual. Therefore, the words of Sarah to Abraham were, cast out this bondwoman and her son: for the son of this bondwoman shall not be heir with my son, Isaac. The words of Sarah were more than her own, these were the words of God (Genesis 21:12) The Bondwoman and her son were cast out. So then, does God use individuals to illustrate a lesson without the well-being of the person? By no means, nevertheless, the error of the individual for the rejection of God’s will, their failure will serve as an illustration for others, lest they fail also. This we know, Ishmael the oldest, tried to kill the youngest, Isaac. Thus, we read in Genesis 21:9 . . . Sarah saw the son of Hagar the Egyptian, which she had born unto Abraham, mocking. The word mocking here is far more than the idea of “playing with.” It implies persecution, this we read in Galatians 4:29 . . . he that was born after the flesh (Ishmael) persecuted him that was born after the Spirit (Isaac) Consequently, this was more than a playful gesture, for Isaac was a child and Ishmael was about 14 years older. It is believed that Ishmael was abusive to the child. History also records, Ishmael would deceitfully shoot an arrow, and send the child into the field to retrieve the arrow, while attempting to kill him, by implying it was a mistake. God takes notice of what children do or say in their play toward one another, these things will He reveals to the parents, it is the parent responsibility to correct or point out the error. Hagar didn’t, but Sarah did. For the new nature cannot coexist with the old, the new nature must grow in grace, that you put off concerning the former conversation the old man (nature), which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; And be renewed in the spirit of your mind (Ephesians 4:22-23) Nevertheless, if we find ourselves in the position of Hagar, wherewith we are cast out, in our desert place, may we seek the Lord for His living water of life.60
- Did Adam create some of the animals? In Posting questionsSeptember 18, 2018Lastly, the mentioned verse of 2 Peter 3:8, which reads in part, one day with the Lord is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. This relates to the mercy of God, which is long-suffering, and He never forgets His promises. Let us now expound how the phrase, one day with the Lord is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day, as to how it relates to God’s mercy as long-suffering and His faithfulness to fulfill His promises. Illustration You and I, if we had someone who is irritating to us, or doing the wrong thing over and over, sooner or later we will express disgust. Consequently, as humans, we will turn our backs on them. However, with God, if an individual sin one time and repent, God will accept them. On the contrary, if the other individual continues to sin, over and over, days to weeks, weeks to months and months to years and a lifetime, but when he or she repents from their wrongdoing, God will forgive and accept them just as He accepted the sinner who sinned a single day. One day with the Lord is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. This also relates to God’s faithfulness to fulfill His promises. We as human, if we made a promise of which we cannot fulfill, with time, we feel we are no longer obligated to keep that promise. However, with God, even with the eclipse of a thousand years, His faithfulness to fulfill His promise is as new as the first day the promise was made. This was the Holy Spirit's way of encouraging the early Church and us today, through the apostle Peter. Let us not lose hope in waiting for the Lord’s second return. Many years have come and gone, but return He will. We can also apply this encouragement to our personal lives. Perhaps we asked the Lord to receive of Him and He promised through His words He will. However, time has passed, without seeing the fulfillment of the promise. Or He promised through His words to remove something from our lives, of which we don’t want it to be a part of us, yet there is little or no change in our condition. Let us not lose hope, though many years have passed, but His promise is as new as the day we cried onto Him, and He will fulfill His promise. One day with the Lord is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.6
