Shaking of Heaven?

Hebrews 12:

26 Whose voice then shook the earth: but now he hath promised, saying, Yet once more I shake not the earth only, but also heaven.

What will be the shaking of heaven?

The base of the passage is from the book of Haggai 2:6, the last Old Testament prophecy.

The First shaking has to do with the Law, as it was given on Sinai to Moses. This was something the world has never seen before, and it shook the Earth. However, here in Hebrew 12:26, the second statement starts with the conjunction “but.” This calls the reader’s attention to a contrast. At first, only the Earth was shaken by the Law, but greater than the Law has come; Jesus Christ and what He did on the Cross.

The Cross of Christ shook both the Earth and Heaven, in His sacrifice, Christ atoned for all sin, past, present and future. The Greatness of the Cross of Christ above the Law is in that the Law pointed to the Cross. Therefore, the Cross is the fullness of that which was promised. The Law spoke judgment, the Cross speaks Grace.

This is the theme of the entire book of Hebrew, Christ is greater.

Wow, completely different to what I had in mind. -.- But amen and glory to God for his Son, that we may be restored.
